OUR HISTORY

 

The Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1971 by the late, Most Reverand, Pastor Willie F. Brooks Sr. In 1973, he received and accepted the call to Pastor Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church, thus closing the doors of the Upper Room Church. An anointed vision was placed on the heart of the then, Pastor Willie F. Brooks Jr., to reestablish the Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church. In October 2008 the birth of the continued legacy of his father was born. The church first was located in Gray's Convention Center, Milwaukee, WI, for the first two years. God's blessings of increase was manifested and a move needed to take place. Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church then took residence at the Greater New Birth's Shelton Lofton Building located at 2200 West Center Street, Milwaukee, WI. In 2011 the Spirit of God spoke to Pastor Willie Brooks Jr. concerning the divisiveness of God's Church created by man and their many denominations. Pastor Willie Brooks Jr. was inspired to be set apart from others, thus becoming affiliated with no particular denomination accept that of Christ Jesus. The Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church became the Upper Room Bible Church International. The church has experienced more of the joy, move and fellowship of God since opening its heart to other affiliations and fellowships. One of the greatest elevations from this inspiration was when the Family Life International Fellowship Bishops Counsel nominated Pastor Willie Brooks Jr. to become Bishop Elect Willie Brooks Jr. This great inspiration also opened a new season for the church of increase thus shifting them once again to a new location. The church is now located in a spacious and beautiful sanctuary located at 3501 A.N.12th Street in Milwaukee, WI 53206.
